According to an audit carried out by audits from the Auditor Generals office, wildlife in Uganda is on a fast decline. Some of the species that are faced with the threat of extinction in Uganda are, ostriches, zebras and lions.

Last year alone about 25 elephants were massacred in Murchison falls national park area which is a very alarming figure considering that uganda would loss on average about 3 elephants annually.

The killing of a British tourist in Kenya and the kidnapping of his wife by supposedly Al Shabab militants has once again scared off a couple of tourists. Many tourists were calling and asking their Kenya travel agency whether it is safe to visit magical Kenya.

In the space of a couple of days after that unfortunate event, there was a huge fire incident that killed over 100 people in the capital Nairobi. All these things have affected tourism in Kenya is one way or another.

East Africa has a lot of tour attractions to offer visitors to the region. The diverse cultures and wildlife that the Countries have to offer makes East Africa the best tourism destination in Africa. Kenya has the great annual wildebeest migration that can be seen during a Masai Mara tour as well as a Serengeti tour. During the economic crisis that hit the world recently, there was a lot of businesses that were affected and many had to close shop. The tourism industry especially in Africa bore the brunt considering the fact that the cost of flights to most African destinations is rather high. Uganda was no exception with some tour operators having to layoff some of their staff and others were left on the brink of closure.

The situation is however changing in Uganda, the number of tourists visiting the Country is increasing with the improvement in the economic situation in many of the Countries around the world. The Masai Mara national parks is probably one of the most documented conservation areas in the world. It derives its name from the Mara river that runs through it and the Masai people where it is located. The Masai are people with a distinct culture who live side by side with the animals in the conservation area. A Masai Mara tour will most definitely involve watching the wildebeest which is the one of the main attractions in the region.

Every year millions of Wildebeest migrate to and from the Masai Mara national park to the Serengeti national park in Tanzania. The Country is truly the land of safari with great safari attractions such as the Masai Mara national park which has been dubbed by many as the 9th wonder of the World. The Masai Mara national park derives its name from the Mara River which cuts across it. It is part of the Mara-Serengeti Ecosystem. However due to its popularity, the Masai Mara national park sees such a huge number of mass tourists visiting the park. This has kind of had a negative impact on the eco-system.
